DESIGN WITH HEADBOARDS

Taking a fundamental part of the bedroom, and making it a design feature can add glamour and originality to the room.  Accentuating the headboard can completely alter the style and ambience of your bedroom, softening, reviving and even adding elegant bedside storage.  Starting off with a few images, I will be adding to this post with new ideas and inspiration, documenting my finds as promised to keep you and your home updated.

Wall to Wall

Breaking up the wall using fabric panels that frame the bed and bedside accessories, separates the expanse and emphasises every design detail.   The dramatic style is made more tranquil using warm grey tones combined with coordinating accessories.  To keep the drama, try using stronger colours and darker, moodier tones.

Stencilling

This stencilled paint design creates a delicate headboard which compliments the vintage ambience.  Teaming the design with pure white bed linen helps to emphasise the intricate detail, while matching painted furniture gives the design a more tactile appearance

The Third Dimension

While walls and floor are readily considered by the home designer, the ceiling is a surface space that is often forgotten.  This design is a shadow of the more traditional fourposter bed, and by extending the wooden headboard over the bed, elegance is suggested but with a contemporary appearance.

Unorthodox Tradition

Take a more unusual approach to the traditional fireplace statement by combining the surround with a bespoke, deep buttoned headboard to create a stunning backdrop.  Swags of draped fabric make this statement sumptuous, rich and romantic.

Soft Antique

Taking an innovative approach to a traditional antique makes this design warm and cosy. Teamed with heavy textured bed linen and a a stunning paint effect, this room is flowing with oriental charm.  Elegant accessories such as the calla lilies and the coordinating bolster add luxury and style, it's the little details that make all the difference.

Coastal Serenity

This design takes a more sophisticated approach to the coastal theme that has been so popular in recent years.  The oversized pebble effect headboard in soft, calming tones makes a statement without creating chaos in the room. As a place to relax, the bedroom should be soothing and tranquil.  This room entertains harmony between the elements, the coral and the oatmeal duvet cover.

Glambience

The choice of wallpaper is what makes this beautiful headboard so phenominal.  Repetitive use of organic shapes throughout the room creates a sense of grandeur, while the reflective surface of the wallpaper create mood and atmosphere.
